The £29,000 Threshold.

The Home Office doesn’t ask if you can "afford" to live here. They ask if you meet the Minimum Income Requirement (MIR) of £29,000 per annum.

One payslip missing, one dividend voucher undated, or one cash deposit unexplained can lead to a refusal. We do not guess; we calculate. We identify the exact combination of income sources—Salaried, Savings, or Dividends—to hit the target.

The Nuvora Strategy

Most agencies look at these categories in isolation. We don't. We specialize in Category Combination, strategically layering Savings (Cat D) on top of Shortfalls in Employment (Cat A) or Non-Employment (Cat C) to architect a successful application.

The Income Matrix

  • Salaried Employment

Covering Category A (with employer for 6+ months) and Category B (less than 6 months or variable income).

"Variable pay? The Home Office calculates this using your lowest payslip in the 6-month period, not your average. We audit this risk to prevent shortfalls."

  • Sole Traders & Directors

For Sole Traders, Partners, or Directors of specified limited companies. We utilise Category F (last full financial year) or Category G (average of last two years).

"Turnover is not profit. We reconcile your Personal Tax Returns (SA302) and Company Accounts to prove the income is effectively available to you."

  • Property & Investments

Leveraging Category C income from property rentals, dividends (from non-specified companies), interest from savings, or maintenance payments.

"The paper trail must be flawless. Tenancy agreements, title deeds, and bank statements must align perfectly to prove ownership and receipt."

  • Cash Savings

The "Gold Standard" route. Relying on liquid funds held for 6 months. The threshold is £88,500 (if relying solely on savings) or lower if topping up income.

"Liquidity is key. Property value or crypto assets do not count until liquidated. We ensure the source of funds declaration is bulletproof."

  • Pensions

Utilizing state or private pensions (Category E). This is often the most stable route for mature applicants and can be combined with savings to meet the shortfall.

"Evidence is strictly time-bound. We ensure your pension entitlement letters and bank deposits fall within the mandatory 28-day window before submission."

Bringing Children?

Since April 2024, the £29,000 threshold does not increase when you add non-British children. However, the 'Sole Responsibility' test for children from previous relationships is one of the toughest in immigration law. We specialize in these complex family unit applications.

Proving Your Life is "Genuine & Subsisting."

A marriage certificate is no longer enough. The Home Office looks for discrepancies in your timeline.

We build a Relationship Dossier that tracks your history from first meeting to present day. We select the strongest evidence—flight logs, tenancy agreements, and communication history—while redacting sensitive data. We prove you are not just married, but building a life.

The English Language Requirement

  • Entry Clearance (Visa)

Level A1 (Speaking & Listening) Required for your first application. We ensure you book a SELT (Secure English Language Test) with an approved provider. Note: General English, not Academic.

  • The Extension

Level A2 (Speaking & Listening) Required after 2.5 years. You must show progress. If you passed a higher level (B1) initially, we can reuse that certificate to save you re-testing.

  • Settlement / ILR

The final hurdle. You must pass the Life in the UK Test (culture & history) AND the Level B1 English test. Both certificates are mandatory for Indefinite Leave to Remain.

  • Exemptions

Degrees & Nationality Nationals of majority English-speaking countries or holders of a UK-equivalent degree are exempt. We verify your degree via Ecctis to bypass the exam entirely.

The "Hidden" Refusal Grounds

Meeting the financial and relationship rules is not enough. The Home Office will refuse applications on technicalities that are often overlooked:

Adequate Accommodation: You must prove you have exclusive use of a property (owned or rented) that is not overcrowded. We review your Property Inspection Reports and Tenancy Agreements to satisfy the Housing Act standards.

Suitability & Good Character: Past refusals, criminal cautions, or NHS debt can trigger a mandatory refusal. We run a 'Suitability Check' on your history before submission to preempt any character concerns.

Path to Settlement

  • We secure your initial 33-month visa. Focus: Meeting the £29,000 threshold and proving relationship durability.

  • A critical audit point. We ensure your cohabitation evidence corresponds to the exact months required by the Home Office to prevent gaps in residence.

  • The "Golden Ticket." We convert your temporary status into Permanent Residence. No more visa fees, no more immigration restrictions.

  • The final step: immediately after you obtain Settlement, we secure your naturalisation and British passport for you.
